What could be better than enjoying a wonderfully filling meal in great company? Not a lot, we believe! This is why do everything we can to make your visit to the Augustiner am Platzl nothing short of perfect.
Having lived in the Munich area for many years, our family has fallen in love with Bavarian culture. Together with our children Paula and Julius, we’ve adopted this place as our cherished home.
We’re incredibly passionate people! Our unique qualities make us all a little different, but we’re united by a great passion for what we do. Working as a team really brings our warm-heartedness out!
Oliver trained in hotels, as well as working as Maître Restaurateur at the Bailliage de Haute-Bavière of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs International Association of Gastronomy. He has also worked internationally, including for private events for celebrities, successfully managing the high-end Villa Merton restaurant in Frankfurt, and organising VIP hospitality at the World Expo 2000 and the World Cup.
With almost 30 years of hotel and hospitality experience under his belt, Oliver is now finally realising his lifelong dream of running an Augustiner tavern!
Oliver’s mantra: If you have a passion, you’ve got to make it burn!

Barbara grew up in Düsseldorf, in a family of hoteliers.
She completed her training at the renowned Breidenbacher Hof hotel in Düsseldorf before working in the catering industry for a number of years, where she successfully made her name by organising numerous large-scale events in Germany and internationally.
More recently, Barbara was part of the team at the Aumeister tavern in Munich’s English Garden where she became truly immersed in traditional tavern culture. Today, Barbara’s typical Rheinland cheer makes her the natural hostess at the Platzl.
Her charisma and bubbly persona are real assets to the tavern and our team!
KCurrently, we’re open during the week from 11.30 a.m. to 10 p.m., starting slightly earlier on Saturdays at 11 a.m. We’re closed on Sundays at the moment. Our kitchens are open for hot food until 10 p.m.Come and join us in our traditionally Bavarian tavern bar! Our bar still serves Augustiner Helle lager from wooden barrels, just like the Augustiner monks used to do – a highlight for any beer connoisseur! What better place to linger for a while, enjoying the merry goings-on in our main bar or sitting and contemplating the vaulted ceiling in the Gewölbestube?
For a more private setting, tables are also available in our separate banqueting area and function rooms upstairs.
Augustiner am Platzl accepts the following payment methods:
cash, credit cards and debit cards (chip & pin and contactless). We do not accept American Express.
Bavarian cuisine is an authentic feel-good affair. Not just because of the fantastic ingredients and flavours, but also because of the great atmosphere that comes with the food.
My team and I look forward to welcoming you to the Platzl and making sure your visit’s a great one! Why not come on by?
As an operational manager, I work hand in hand with my team to ensure smooth operations both in front and behind the scenes of the tavern, aiming to provide our guests with a cozy atmosphere.
The Stammtisch tradition is a custom we cherish at the Augustiner am Platzl.
The word ‘Stammtisch’ refers to both a group of people who meet regularly at the tavern and to the large, round table around which these groups gather.
These regular Stammtisch get-togethers often revolve around a social gathering, an evening of card games, or a group that meets to discuss specific interests, such as politics or philosophy. In the past, being invited to join a Stammtisch was definitely an honour as they tended to be quite closed circles.
Stammtisch meetings today though are all about a sense of belonging, familiar faces and a sharing in common interests and passions – values that we’re seeing today in the modern style of Stammtisch.
The Stammtisch tradition has strong roots in Munich and Bavaria – a custom that we are proud to maintain at the Augustiner am Platzl!
Looking for something to remember us by? Then look no further! We have an exclusive selection of souvenirs that are great reminders of the fun you had at the Augustiner am Platzl.
